What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: Gentle, almost vintage feeling with soft dirty pink shades.

What was unique about your wedding? My guests said the thing that made the wedding unique was firstly the holy atmosphere in the chapel. We were also complimented on our first dance, the venue and our speeches as they were truly from the heart!

Describe your Wedding Dress: My dress was perfect! The dress was a white ball gown of raw silk with flowers on the left hip. Some lace was also used in the left part of the dress.

Describe your Wedding Cake: I had an amazing cake which was done by Ivy! Three layer chocolate cake with fresh roses!

The Best thing about being a Bride: You feel like the most beautiful women on earth!

The Best thing about being a Groom: You get to marry your dream girl!

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: The whole wedding was perfect there were absolutely no flaws! The staff of M&S was amazing!!!!! We had one funny incident though; while we were cutting the cake in the center of the dance floor I could not remember which of the layers were dummy layers. We started cutting the lower layer but felt some resistance. We kept on smiling and tried not to look too worried. We eventually got the right layer and are still laughing at those few stressful seconds!

What have you learned from this experience: Planning a wedding is a lot of work but definitely worth all the effort! I also learned that if you trust that God has put you and your husband together your wedding day is the greatest day of your life! Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Dont just focus on the wedding day and all the planning make sure you and your fiancé work on the future of your marriage by doing pre-marital courses and making sure he definitely is the one!

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day? We wanted to create a relaxed, sophisticated fun, loving / welcoming atmosphere!


What was unique about your wedding? That it was our 2nd Wedding to the same person! We had a small intimate Wedding 1 year and 1 day before our BIG celebration!! Four other highlights were:
Our cake was made of cheese and made by my mother, it was exquisite
Our sunflower tutu’d flower girls were precious
Sky lanterns where the guests gave us verbal wishes
Our favourite cocktails are Jam Jars from Primi Piatti so we served these to the guests in the garden after the ceremony

The Best thing about being a Bride: WOW! Getting married to the most amazing person ever, knowing he will support me and love me forever. I loved the quality time with my girls and just feeling like a Princess! The fact that everyone is there for you both to celebrate this occasion because they love you was also mind blowing!!


The Best thing about being a Groom: “Marrying a beautiful Princess in such a stunning venue made me very happy!! Having everyone close to you celebrating along side you and your wife – good times. Also spending good quality time with my best friends rocked!”



What have you learned from this experience? Not to pay attention to the details but rather cherish the moment, the people and the feeling!! “I’ve got a feeling, tonight’s gonna be a good good night”…Black Eyed Peas! If I we were to redo our Wedding I would change NOTHING except include having a videographer, our only regret.


Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Get your Invites made. The novelty wears off after about 50 Invites, you run low on wine and have a sore head and not many Invites done the next day! Choose your Wedding colour once you have found a suitable fabric / pattern or dress for your bridesmaids. Don’t choose the colour and then try find a suitable fabric / pattern or dress. Wedding magazines but too many cause your budget distress :o) Don’t get caught up too much in the planning, breathe, it’s supposed to be fun…love every minute because when it’s over it’s over!! On the day take mental pictures, stop and stare – it flies by!! Finish all the formalities i.e. speeches, dessert etc before opening your dance floor so there are NO distractions, just PARTYville!

How did you meet: We met in the eastern Transvaal while on holiday. I was 16 and Renier was 17 so it was a holiday romance. We lost touch after that and reunited later when my dad accidentally bumped into Renier in 2004.


What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: We just wanted it to be warm and comfortable. Traditional but casual with a touch of romance.

What was unique about your wedding? Every wedding has its own unique moment. In the chapel I walked down the isle to the song ‘True Companion’ by Marc Cohen. The wedding officer did not ask anyone if there were objections to our union. My new husband introduced me to the congregation. Renier sang a song to me as part of his speech, ‘You got it’ by Roy Orbison. We had a karaoke DJ so people had a chance to sing songs. Our opening dance song was not romantic and slow but a bit more upbeat, ‘Under heavens skies’ by Collective Soul.

The Best thing about being a Bride: I don’t know which bride would ever not feel beautiful, confident and more in love that thought possible on this special day. It’s your day to shine and be adored. If you marry the right man, you honestly do feel like that everyday.

The Best thing about being a Groom: You get to marry the women of your dreams, become someone’s everything and it’s a proud moment to know that the bride and her family, and your own family, have wholly accepted and declared that they trust and love you enough to take on this responsibility. It’s the way the bride looks at you and trusts you completely with the rest of her life.

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Trust the wedding venue with the details of the day. Don’t stress about the little things, it will fall into place. The most important aspect of the day, I believe is the photographer and the way you look. Those pictures will forever be a reminder of the day, so chose your venue carefully, ensure your dress and hair and makeup look great.

How did you meet: At a mutual friend’s birthday picnic

The proposal: A surprise trip to Paris and a proposal at Pont Neuf! We were sitting at the edge of the river.

What theme or atmosphere did you create on your Big Day: A bit of vintage theme with lilac and silvers colours, and a touch of butterflies on the table plan and table names.

Describe your Table Décor/flowers or Gifts to guests: The décor consisted of candelabra’s on top of a mirror base, with flowers and pearls hanging off them. Each table also had glass candle holders with lilac and white candles and small silver urns with flowers. Each guest had a silver pewter chair as name places, and white name cards with a silver butterfly. The flowers were all roses, in white, light pink and lilac.
The gifts for the guests were perspex boxes covered in a lilac ribbon, filled with silver candy coated Italian chocolates.

Wedding Dress: A strapless ivory raw satin A-line dress with lace and beading at the top and 2 flowers pinned up near the bottom. Little beads were scattered throughout the dress.

Wedding Cake: Tiered cake with white chiffon ribbon round the bottom of each cake. Each tier topped with truffles and decorated with pink roses. The first tier was vanilla sponge cake with vanilla buttercream with praline crunch and the second tier, coffee sponge cake with Espresso buttercream with Tia Maria.

The Best thing about being a Bride: Walking down the aisle and having all your close family & friends looking at you expectantly and happily.

The Best thing about being a Groom: Getting ready with your closest mates on one of the most important days of your life.

Highlights/Special/Funny incidents of the day: As I walked out of the chapel, my dress trail caught on the stand that was holding the glass vase with confetti and the glass vase fell and broke. Not many people noticed as they were all throwing the rose confetti at us! After that, it started pouring down with rain, but everyone took that as a very good omen.

What have you learned from this experience: How many caring family & friends we have, and that you can’t control everything, sometimes you need to just go with the flow.

Any advice you would like to give other bridal couples? Keep a timeline list of things to get done so you don’t miss anything, like last payments etc. On the day, just remind yourself to take everything in, as it goes by quickly so enjoy it!
